The Dreaming site of Miinypa or Yanyilingi is Ngarlu, meaning 'Red rock', country to the east of Yuendumu. A Jungarrayi man called Lintipilinti was living at Ngarlu and he fell in love with a Napangardi woman, a taboo relationship as the woman was his classificatory mother in-law, a relationship forbidden to him under Warlpiri religious law. Lintipilinti fell in love with the Napangardi woman when he saw her make a huge hole in the ground as she urinated. Lintipilinti was very impressed and aroused by this and began to wonder how he could woo the Napangardi. He went to Ngarlu and made hair string for her, singing Yilpinji (love songs) as he worked. The Napangardi woman could not sleep and felt strange and sick in her stomach. She realised that someone was singing Yilpinji for her. A little bird visited her every day taking Jungarrayis songs to her. That bird can still be heard sometimes in the bush - It helps people find certain bush foods. It also talks to people when they are lonely, sad or in danger. The force of the Yilpinji songs attracted the Napangardi woman to Lintipilinti. When the two lovers met and made love they were turned to stone as punishment for breaking Warlpiri law. The place where they were turned to stone can still be seen at Ngarlu today.
