Betty Bundamurra was born at Karunjie Station where her father was a stockman. Her mother gave birth to her in the bush. At the age of three, her mother sadly passed away and Betty went to Kalumburu Mission Convent where she was looked after by Ignatia Ganwalla and the nuns. After working at the mission baking bread, Betty worked at the Kalumburu School as a teacher's aid. Betty has five children and six grandchildren and lives happily with her extended family in Kalumburu. In this painting the turtles have laid their eggs on the beach and are going back out to sea.
