synthetic polymer paint on canvas

In this series of Stinging Rain, Rosella Namok uses various implements to scrape the painted surface. Stinging Rain - is part of a glowing work painted and this work is in a soft palette. In this work, rhythmic parallel lines paced obliquely to the vertical direction, take the moody narrative forward, their razorsharp gashes to the painted surface, created by a fine edged scraping tool. This work relates to fishing from a boat on the river during a downpour. ‘It's always good when it starts to rain - it stings your face and stirs up the fish underneath.'
