As a young woman on Myroodah Station near Derby in the far north of Western Australia, Maggie worked with her mother as a cook for the station owner, Charles Lanigan. Her work also included cleaning, collecting eggs from the chickens, milking the nanny goat, making beds, and laundry. This was her schooling. While her father worked mustering cattle, the women worked as domestics.
This painting is a map of the paddocks and landmarks on Myroodah Station. It was created using a very singular technique, in which the dots are double painted so that they stand out from the surface of the canvas.
