This dreaming tells about fire from our country. Men use fire to hunt for
animals. A small kangaroo was brought here from our ancestors because it
was chased by fire. Two men went hunting for food and started making fire and
it followed them in other countries. They came back and were tired and slept
on the place where the fire burnt.
Manuel is a younger artist who was born and bred in Lajamanu surrounded by the creativity of his elders, and the timelessness of his ancient culture. He works in the Lajamanu art centre and has been affected by seeing his elders create their dreaming stories on canvas. He is also a musician playing in Lajamanu, Melbourne and Sydney. His artwork is affected by his need to create both musically and on canvas. His favourite theme is snake dreaming.Share
