Cooee Art, NSW
The artist has painted a vine fish trap which symbolises a site of special significance to his clan group under water at Miwirnbi in Central Arnhem Land.
Central to the painting is the clan waterhole. Different species of fish including Barramundi and salmon fish are shown. Small fish are shown as they swim along a creek and eventually into the mouth of the trap.
At the bottom of the painting are two Diver Ducks, Gudurpurrdu, also associated with the creation of this site and often present there today.Share
