Story
Itingarinyina Ngura Ngalkuritjara Tjuntjuntjara munkara kapi tjuta palangka. Minyma Tjuta Tjukurpa. I was born at this place Ngalkuritjara. It’s just to the north of Tjuntjuntjara and there are many waterholes here. The seven Sisters are present in this country depicted by their footprints travelling from rock hole to rock hole.
Elaine is a senior traditional owner of the area she was born called Ngalkuritjara. In this painting Elaine depicts the Seven Sisters, a major Western Desert womens story. You can see three of the sister’s siting down marked by the half circles. The cheeky ‘Nyirru’ (not drawn) is watching the sisters from a distance hoping to catch himself a wife. He is very keen on the oldest sister called Kampukurtja.
