STORY
Perpetual (Ngaray) sees Danie Mellor harness the luminous surface of stainless steel to create a photographic work that reflects on memory, time, and the enduring presence of Country. The cool-toned image carries Mellor’s signature detail and atmosphere, capturing both the natural world and the viewer’s own reflection to invite a layered dialogue between past and present, self and landscape.
The title Ngaray, from the artist’s Mamu and Ngadjon heritage, refers to continuity and spirit beyond linear time. By working on stainless steel, a surface that suggests permanence, reflection, and modernity, Mellor merges contemporary materials with cultural depth. Perpetual (Ngaray) asks us to consider how Country endures: alive, remembered, and speaking across generations.
