STORY
This painting by David Brown Jangala illustrates the transition between the Wet Season and the Dry Season in the Western Desert. Through layered dotting and shifts in colour and texture, Brown conveys the changing landscape—moving from the vibrant, water-filled environment of the Wet Season to the more arid, muted tones of the Dry Season. The work captures the natural cycles that shape the land and the lives of its people.
“This painting shows the change from the Wet Season to the Dry Season,” Brown explains. By visually expressing this seasonal shift, Brown reflects on the impact of weather and climate on Country, as well as the adaptations required by those who live closely with the land. The painting is a reminder of the enduring connection between environment, culture, and the rhythms of desert life.
