STORY
The Giant Clam has always been a part of my life; Nanna’s yard was scattered with them, all gathered from her fish traps during the spring tides.
Beautifully coloured and textured, the mantle a mixture of yellow, red, hints of green, blue and shades of orange. The thick bony shell is easily recognised by its original shape and unique texture.
Layer upon layer of paint lovingly applied; swirling and washing around the clam portraying the oceans tides, teeming with life. I am part of this work as I apply the saltwater crocodile markings running down the canvas capturing the atmosphere of the Arafura Sea. - Joshua Bonson
