STORY
Skin - Torres Strait is a celebration of my family's totem, The Saltwater Crocodile and my personal view of the world. Even though I live in the Northern Territory, part of my heritage comes from the Torres Strait and creating this work is my way of representing my skins affiliations and my place there.Movement and texture combine portraying the maze of reefs and islands, strong tidal currents with narrow channels between Islands of the Torres Strait.
Crystal seas and Amazing skies are captured mixing Orange, Red, Aureolin Yellow, Hints of Ivory Black, and Titanium White symbolizing the setting sun, the completion of the day and shows the passage of time. As the sun sets, it is time to end the day and take a break, unwind and relax.The awesome beauty of the setting sun is also symbolic of the beauty of life itself. I am a man of the Saltwater; a Crocodile and Proud of my Heritage.
