STORY
Kurun Warun’s first exhibited his painting alongside his mother when he was 8 years old. His mother came from the Framlingham Mission near Warnambool in Victoria. Over the years he developed his own unique painting style inspired by nature - such as slow-moving rivers, the stones underneath them, and the eels that swim through them. The dust of the earth. The sea and the creatures that swim in it.
Though his heritage is Gunditjmara from Tasmania, Kurun Warun, lives in the Noosa hinterland in South East Queensland and is best known for his distinct imagery and acclaimed talent as a didgeridoo player. International renowned in both fields, he explores the stories of his heritage through his art.
