STORY
Maureen Thompson was born in Limmen Bight at the western end of the Gulf of Carpentaria in northern Australia. Maureen and her parents were picked up by troopers while walking on their traditional hunting trail traversing hundreds of kilometres. They were taken to Roper River Mission where she was separated from her parents by the Roper River, a very large salt water crocodile infested tidal river.
As an adult Maureen went onto study the Bible and she became a pastor. She, like a number of her contemporaries who studied white man's spirituality have developed their own 'two way religion', a unique amalgam between the two cultures and spiritual beliefs.
