STORY
In this work, part of Namok's Stinging Rain series, the artist has worked with wet paint on wet, employing various implements to scrape back sections of the painted surface. The rhythmic parallel lines are placed obliquely to the vertical in razor sharp gashes using a fine edged scraping tool.
This work relates to fishing from a boat on the river during a downpour. According to the artist, ‘It’s always good when it starts to rain ... it stings your face and stirs up the fish underneath.’ Rosella Namok
